OBJECTIVES
General objectives:
 - enhancement of safe and security of food;
 - biotechnology development with impact on life quality and economic activity;
 - developing of new materials, products and processes with high added-value;
 - optimization of methods for disease prevention;
 - development of new technologies for conservation, reconstruction and consolidation of the biologic and ecologic diversity.
Project specific objectives are:
 - obtaining of enzyme biosensors for monitoring nitrates and nitrites from waters;
 - covalent immobilization of enzymes and yielding enzyme polymer nanocomposites;
 - hydrophilic polymers coating on the sensor electrode;
 - proving the possibility to use the new biosensors in monitoring the nitrate and nitrite in water for human consumption;
 - development of some technologies for the efficient using of the new devices;
 - increasing the life quality, by preventing the diseases of the population.
The following measurable effects are expected:
Economic Effects:
 - enlargement the range of advanced composites and increase production of electronic and electro technical industry, leading to GDP increase;
 - increasing technical and qualitative level of advanced materials produced in our country, which will improve competitiveness and market position of interested SME beneficiary;
 - income increase in the field of advanced material production, by manufacturing new, high value-added products, in accord with the demands of new application areas;
 - efficient use of material resources in Romanian enterprises;
 - development of partnership between enterprises and R&D units;
 - providing of sustainable economic development at regional and sectorial level.
Scientific Effects:
 - stimulating research network in the field of food, new materials and environment, by means of cooperation between research institutions and universities;
 - increase integration capability within European programs and partnership, connected to thematic area 2: Food, agriculture and biotechnologies, in thematic area 6; Environment (including climate change), and 4: Nanoscience and nanotechnologies, and new production processes, targeting industry development based on knowledge;
 - continuously development of research in the field of synthesis, processing and modification of polymers, biochemistry, electrochemistry, ecology and complex characterization of materials;
 - increase enterprises power to implement research results through technology transfer and stimulation of innovation;
 - dissemination on large scale of scientific results by participation at international conferences and workshops, publishing scientific papers (in ISI journals), CD-ROM, web-page, participation in fairs and exhibitions, leading to enhanced visibility of Romanian science.
Ecological Effects:
 - monitoring the nitrate and nitrite pollution of the waters;
 - developing new materials, using ecological procedures, without emissions of air pollutants or industrial water charged with chemical products, environmentally aggressive;
 - protection of the personnel and environment both to producer and to end user.
Social Effects:
 - protection of the population health;
 - increase of life quality;
 - creating new jobs;
 - regional development, especially of underdeveloped areas;
 - drawing young students and graduates to take part in research team. In the project are working 22 young specialists, among which 4 are still students.
